Launching Longview Server Manager
You can launch and sign on to the Longview Server Manager through the Longview Dashboard or Longview Client initially, and after the first launch, through the Start menu of your local device as well. For more details on signing on, see Signing on to the Longview Server Manager application.
When you launch the Server Manager for the first time through Longview Dashboard or Longview Client, the Server Manager is installed on your local device as a desktop application. You need to have Server Manager authorization to be able to install the Server Manager on your local device and launch it from the Start menu. See Understanding User and Group Authorizations in Longview Application Administration guide for instructions on how to grant authorization.
Launching the Server Manager through the Start menu allows the user to administer the servers when the servers are not started.
Once you launch the Server Manager from the Longview Dashboard or Longview Client, a shortcut, e.g., LVBlack - Longview Server Manager, is automatically created in the Longview category on the Start menu of your device.
To launch the previously installed Server Manager through the shortcut on the Start menu to connect and start the servers, follow these steps:
Navigate to Longview > <LID> - Longview Server Manager on the Start menu, where <LID> is the name of your Longview Server Identifier. For example, LVBlack.
A pop-up opens asking you whether to open the Server Manager application. Click Open.
The Server Manager opens.
Click Connect in the dark blue Data Server panel to manually connect to the data server. For more details on connecting and starting servers, see Action icon descriptions in Data Server and Server Details.
It may take a moment for the Server Manager to show that the data server is connected, update the server details, and display the functionality section.
